The most sought after colors when it comes to Indian wedding fashion. But that doesn't mean one can't sport these colors otherwise! I found this rather old saree of mine while rummaging through my closet the other day, and I thought it would pair beautifully with this yellow crop top I purchased at Westside-India, couple years ago. This art-silk saree has nothing special going on with it, except for it's color. I picked it up at Nalli some years ago for not more than 700 rupees (~11$).
One might wonder, why invest in art-silk sarees. For someone like me who LOVES sarees but doesn't have a ton of opportunities to wear one, I prefer not to spend a few thousands on original silk sarees as I seldom get to wear them, and it's a pity to have them sleep in the attic. Moreover, they tend to look over the top when worn to events like concerts, get-togethers with friends and such. You definitely want to have a few original silk sarees in your collection (or raid your mom's wardrobe every time you visit!), but art-silk sarees are a much cheaper alternative for those of you who just want to get a few wears out of it, without any maintenance.
For those wondering, my earrings are from Mortantra.
